The Flood Agency

Origins
The Agency was started in 1950 by Joy O. Davis.

In the early years, Joy increased the Agency's growth by consolidating several agencies and individual businesses.

When Joy started the Agency, it was located above the Mason State Bank. It was in the mid-1950s that Joy purchased the current building at 218 East Maple St.

Growth
The Agency was owned by Joy until about 1969, when he sold an interest to Harriette Carlson. The firm purchased the Roscoe Arnold Agency in Dansville at about the same time.

On January 1, 1976, sole ownership of the Agency was turned over to Harriette Carlson. Wayne H. Flood then purchased the Agency on January 1, 1979.

The Reid Agency

Origins
The Agency was originally the Farmers County Mutual Insurance Company in the 1930s and served the Ingham area as the primary source of insurance for the county farmers.

In 1930, Hastings Mutual Insurance Company of Hastings, Michigan, bought the Company, and the location at 138 West Ash St., in Mason, Michigan, became an Independent Agency for Hastings Mutual operated by Louis Stid.

In the mid 1970s, the Agency was purchased by Vernon R. Brower, and the Agency was known as the Stid Brower Agency until it was purchased by Linda Reid on January 1, 1990.

Growth
The Reid Brower Agency was owned by Linda, David, and Richard Reid and continued operating as an Independent Insurance Agency at 138 West Ash St. in Mason.

The Merger

On January 1, 2000, the Reid Brower Agency merged with the Flood Insurance Agency and moved to the 218 East Maple St. location as the Flood Reid Agency. On January 1, 2003, Todd Clark joined the Agency and, along with the Reids, purchased the interests of Wayne and Mike Flood.

On January 1, 2005, a branch office was opened in Fowlerville, Michigan, at 7124 W. Grand River. Todd and Sheri Clark are operating that location and look forward to providing the growing Livingston County and surrounding area with the same outstanding full service that we have been offering at our Mason offices for over 50 years.

Our Fowlerville office is closed as of January 1, 2007.
